A-Med Specialty Pharmacy is dedicated to serving patients living with Multiple Sclerosis. Our pharmacy will carefully monitor medications in order to customize each individual's needs based on the patient's health history.

Disease Overview
Multiple Sclerosis is a chronic disease that attacks the central nervous system. The immune system eats away at the protective tissue of the nervous system interfering with the communication between the brain and the body. Multiple Sclerosis is often a debilitating disease and is irreversible.

Causes of Multiple Sclerosis
Researchers have not found a definite cause of Multiple Sclerosis; the following is a list of risk factors for the onset of the disease.
  1. Heredity; more common among people with a family history of the disease.
  2. Women are twice as likely to develop Multiple Sclerosis.
  3. Commonly begins between the ages of 20-40.
  4. Autoimmune diseases; thyroid disease and Type 1 diabetes.
Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis
Symptoms of Multiple Sclerosis depend on the severity of the disease and location of the nerve tissue damage.
  1. Numbness or weakness in one or more limbs.
  2. Double vision or blurring of vision.
  3. Fatigue.
  4. Dizziness.
  5. Partial or complete loss of vision.
Treatment of Multiple Sclerosis
There is no cure for Multiple Sclerosis; treatment usually consists of managing symptoms. Medications, therapy, and procedures are the standard treatment options.
