Disease Overview
Rheumatoid Arthritis is a form of Arthritis that attacks the lining of your joints causing pain and damage. The joint damage causes swelling which results in severe aching and throbbing of the joints.

Causes of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Rheumatoid Arthritis occurs when white blood cells move from the bloodstream into the area surrounding the joints. Proteins that are released due to inflammation cause damage to the joints. Doctors are still unsure what causes this process of Rheumatoid Arthritis. They believe it is a combination of life style choices and genes.

Symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis
The symptoms of Rheumatoid Arthritis can range from one symptom to several of the following:
  1. Joint pain and/or swelling.
  2. Joints that are tender.
  3. Red and puffy hands.
  4. Fever.
  5. Weight Loss.
  6. Fatigue.
  7. Stiffness in the morning.
Treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis
Although there is no cure for Rheumatoid Arthritis there are several medications to help ease the pain and discomfort of the disease. Surgery may become necessary for more severe joint pain and damage.
